Barberet Coffee Shop

Cedric Barberet, a passionate, award-winning pastry chef who has a sharp eye for detail, is known for creating elaborate cakes and pastries that are based in traditional construction. His love for pastry began when he was a child growing up with Patisserie Barberet, his family’s bakery in Villefranche-sur-Saône, France, where he later met his wife Estelle while serving as an apprentice, learning the essential techniques to becoming a master pastry chef.

Barberet went on to hone his skills a top patisseries, restaurants and hotels in France and the U.S., including Le Bec Fin and Buddakan, both in Philadelphia, PA, where he served as Executive Pastry Chef. He carried the same title at M Resort Casino in Las Vegas, NV, as well as Mar-a-Lago Club in Palm Beach, FL, where he worked for five years, and spent two months creating Melania Knauss & Donald Trump’s seven-tier wedding cake. In 2015, Barberet, along with his wife Estelle Barberet, opened Bistro Barberet and Bakery in Lancaster, PA, welcoming guests to enjoy classic French cuisine with a modern twist, and some of the finest pastries and desserts in the country.

Among Barberet’s many accolades, he has been recognized as a member of the prestigious Academie Culinaire de France since 2011, and in 2016 as one of the Top Ten Pastry Chefs in America by Dessert Professional. In 2017, Barberet was the recipient of the Chevalier de L’Ordre du mérite Agricole “Knight of the Agricultural in,” and one of only 12 U.S.-based members of the Cacao Barry International Ambassador Club. In 2020, Barberet was the winner of the Food Network’s competition show, Chopped Sweets, and Bistro Barberet & Bakery was awarded French Bakery & Bistro of the Year 2024 by LUXlife, a worldwide hospitality magazine.

Barberet Bistro and Bakery was the first in the US to receive the World’s French Restaurant Award bestowed by the esteemed French Association of Master Restaurateurs in 2024.

Today Cedric and his wife Estelle with their award winning experience and sense of hospitality, are opening a new concept Barberet coffee shop in Southern Market with the purpose of crafting and using the best sustainable and faire trade coffee and tea by working with label such as La Colombe and le Palais des Thes and to also bring some elevated and approachable sweets to the the community.
